Research Ethics Board
The Research Ethics Board has responsibility for the ethical assessment of all research involving children at SickKids. It is conducted in accordance with hospital policies and the taking into consideration the ethical standards of the various professions represented, the standard reflected in the bioethics literature, and the personal and community values as represented by REB members.
by investigators associated with SickKids meets the highest scientific and ethical standards prior to activation; and to ensure safeguards are developed which provide the greatest protection to patients and members of the community who serve as research subjects.
The REB is mandated to approve, reject, propose modifications to, or terminate any proposed or ongoing research.
